The Fountain of Youth

What if it were possible to live longer healthier lives?

What if you could feel and look younger for an extra decade or two or three?

Well, the myth is 'as you age, your body deteriorates and you need to take medications to help it function.'

At the age of 50, while enjoying my ideal weight, working out three to four times a week, taking daily walks with my dog and eating a healthy diet, I was diagnosed with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high triglycerides, and to top it off I was borderline diabetic.

I asked my doctor to give me some time and figure it out naturally. According to her, there was nothing I could do. Those conditions run in my family and therefore, I had to do what my relatives did: take prescription medication.

Three months later I went back to see her and get the results of my recent blood work.

She could not believe it. I had reversed every single condition!

One change in my diet had freed me from taking medications. I had stopped eating foods that contained gluten.

Gluten is a protein found in wheat, rye, spelt, triticale, bulgur and kamut. The one we consume the most is wheat gluten. Yes! The one in pastas, bread, donuts, bagels, cakes, pizza, cereals, crackers, and in almost everything we purchase that has been processed.

Unfortunately, the wheat we eat today has very little resemblance to the one we consumed forty years ago. It has undergone so many genetic modifications to make the plant more resistant and more productive, among other things, that today's plant can't even survive without human intervention. These changes were made disregarding any possible effect on humans.

Wheat gluten stimulates your appetite, activates autoimmune responses, causes inflammation, produces blood sugar surges, and exposes you to exorphins making it an addictive substance.

So, yes! It is a challenge to start and stick to a gluten-free diet but the benefits are worth it.

Ten years ago I not only reversed my conditions, I also stopped having migraines, digestive and skin issues.

I am now sixty and I don't take any prescription medication because my yearly check-ups say I am healthy.

Now, let me tell you about the effects of wheat deficiency. You will be experiencing a slender body, a flat tummy, high energy, normal blood sugar, normal blood pressure among many other benefits.

So, if you are considering making the transition to gluten-free diet, I, as you Health Coach, can make it easier for you to make the change, overcome the obstacles, and enjoy that extra decade or two.
